Every vote you get, is one your opponant *can't* get, and there are... You can bring it into the pie. That's how votes can be "gained". You encourage people who are reluctant to cast their votes to vote for you. This doesn't have to decrease the vote counts of your opponents. (Unless you count "abstain" as an opponent.)
No. DaVinci deserves the payment. Too bad people don't like to reward artists before they die. So, the collectors gain the money. They're gaining from what DaVinci has lost.
But the man who spent that effort didn't receive the reward.
Compared to how much the farmers in third-world countries get paid to grow your coffee, cocoa-chocolate, etc., you're overpaid. You "gain" at the expense of their living standards, their lack of education and proper medical care, their lack of food, etc.
Why should they get lower wages just because they're in a different area? Who has "absorbed" their values? I tell you: multinational companies exploiting the rules of the capitalism game to squeeze money from the poor's pockets. Those poor peasants simply have no bargaining power. They don't have the capital to do so. Under (global) capitalism, capital is power. The poor peasants can't get the power to fight for what they deserve. You know why people demonstrated against the WTO and IMF when they have meetings?
They pay less in food, and shelter, because they eat food of poorer quality (dirty, contaminated with bacteria, etc.) and poorer shelter (no flush toilets, no air-conditioning, and even no fridge). Have you considered this?
