The bad guy is going to distribute the clean code. Maybe he checks in a single bad file (buttuming they're sophisticated enough to use a versioning system), compiles the program using that version of the file, then deletes it and distributes the clean code. So I have to ask again - until I get an honest answer - who guarantees the OSS binaries you installed on your precious system were compiled from the clean code? No one, of course. See, it's plenty OK for you Linux guys to trust any anonymous OSS clown half a world away who has nothing to lose, but you think I shouldn't trust MS, who has everything to lose.
