Microsoft: Vista won't get a backdoor 3275-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 On 2006-03-07, Rick spake thusly: And open source software is, in most cases, a work in process by volunteers from all over the world. You can't keep mal ware out of sight with so many people working on, and customizing the code of, open source software. Microsoft compilers, maybe. GCC, not a chance. Have doubts? download a new copy (an automatic process with most distros) from the GNU servers. By the way, many open source packages, including kernel updates are authenticated via GPG. Microsoft: Vista won't get a backdoor 3276 Erik Funkenbusch Yup. So, when the guys says there is "no backdoor" and over "his dead body," he really can't be so certain, now can he? And when you say that it would be... Boloney. The GPL requires the source to be included or available. Do you mean to say that there are no programmers out there that are smart enough to read and understand code? Do you really want to suggest that the Kernel development "team" ( a very loose description since programmers and users from all over the world contribute ) conspires to do the impossible - trojan the kernel with the source plainly visible to all? If you really believe this you are a paranoid conspiracy theorist.
See above. Windows has a history. Ever heard of backorifice? Only one of many backdoor trojans seen over the years. No linux versions. Know what you're talking about before making a statement. See above. Whatever. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.7 (GNU-Linux) iD8DBQFED+K8lkJ5K-IU2ToRAvr-AKDUvMC9neldBsrYeqkq-+WaShgP9ACghSzs 5JlfvIuxqq5eVei15aRxiS8= =vgbY -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
