Microsoft's Losing European Battle 3353-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 On 2006-03-08, DFS spake thusly: Untrue. Example: Dell was threatened by Microsoft when they were originally considering installing Linux as an alternative or concurrent OS in their machines. They were told that their OEM windows license would be cancelled if they made such a move. Example: Wal Mart was getting ready to offer their own line of computers and set them up with Linux to make them very affordable. Microsoft put them out of the computer market by threatening thier software retail business. These are age old, tried and true, monopolistic leverage tactics that *do* take the choice out of the hands of the consumers. Before you followup with, "buy a different brand of computer" or, "well, thats the contract they agreed to", these kind of,yesunethical and according to the justice dept. illegal practices are what: A) Created a market in which any company which wishes to sell computers has no choice but to sell them exclusively with windows pre-installed and excluding any other OS. and: B) Because of A), there is no contract choice for vendors, and therefore, no alternative for consumers, and as a result, nothing preventing Microsoft from enforcing outrageous EULA's and software functioning tactics. Another good example: Media player reporting to MS central what was being viewed-played by it's users, without their consent or knowledge. When they got busted, MS rewrote the software, and spinned the bad press. You should learn to listen. There are people with knowlege that you can benefit from if you are willing to. Me in previous message: "Microsoft isn't particularly interested in the needs of the customer" Commercial code is better: Cedega VS Wine 3354 Never heard of Cedega. Haven't a clue how you'd even pronounce it. I do hope you had the decency to... Bgruff (I think): Now you are entering the realms of fantasy..... Well, I'll give you points for buttertiveness. I'm not sure if you really believe what you are typing, or if you are baiting the hook for those of us who have become turned off by Microsofts history of habitual customer abuse and raiding of others work Regards, Mathew -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.7 (GNU-Linux) iD8DBQFED8wHlkJ5K-IU2ToRAjIpAKDc+sL-+U8kVNnensW6tj1eBQpKsgCbBqiS DUkKRo9vT0NGhytuuhKOWJE= =kREU -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
