For the record, I couldn't care less about any desktop victory. I just believe in GNU-Linux and in Free Software, and I believe in the right to install on *my* computers what I want, not what anybody else wants.
And by the way, GNU-Linux was not defeated on the desktop. The battle - if any, as it's Microsoft who have declared war, not us - has only just begun. You might want to keep that champagne bottle corked for a while longer.
I didn't turn to GNU-Linux because I hated Windows or Microsoft. I turned to GNU-Linux because it was the kind of system I had always wanted to use, and it was the better operating system.
I only developed my dislike for Microsoft and Windows much later. And certainly not helping Microsoft gain any sympathy among our ranks.
