Pretty well anything you did with it before, just with different programs. Seeing as you haven't told us which distro you have, I can't give you specifics, but you can create documents with OO.writer, do desktop publishing wit scribus, watch DVDs with xine or totem or kaffeine

You don't need them any more.

You mean, can you rip CDs to mp3, listen to streaming music, play games? O f course.

Using what program? Maybe you should write a stiff letter to your bank, reminding them you are the customer, therefore you should have the choice of what software to access *your* money. If it's a browswer problem, most Lnux browsers can report themselves as IE, which should do the trick.

See above.

How long a list would you like? Thousands of free applications, far greater security, no worries about licencing. If you buy another computer, you can stick Linux on it, no problem with having to beg permission from MS, same if you have a laptop. Great stabilty. Protection from malware. I could go on but you get the picture, don't you?

And you wonder why it won't be 2005
this is from the slackware news group. heck, aol is still alive because people just want to use their machine. not have the machine rule them.. the only change...

Just start exploring. The wonderful world of Linux awaits you.
