While I understand how traumatic your school years probably were, bullying is common everywhere. It only gets to the level you experienced because of one reason. You (and your parents) allowed it to.

At some point, you have to take responsibility for the things that keep happening to you. If they happen once, or occasionally, you have little control over that. But if they happen continuously, it's because you allow, and possibly even encourage it to happen.

Frankly, I would have told my parents that I simply would not go back to school. So you might have got "in trouble"? Is getting in trouble worse than being physically injured?

I'm not saying the bullies weren't at fault. They were completely at fault, but YOU are responsible for how you deal with situations like this, and you weren't dealing with it AT ALL.

I knew a woman that had been date raped 87 times. 87. While there is no excuse for date rape, after that many times, you have to start wondering what she might be doing to encourage such behavior, and why she keeps doing it over and over again.

In her case, she kept putting herself in situations where she was alone with a guy on the first date, drinking heavily, and wearing very revealing clothing. Then, when the attacker started taking advantage of her, she did nothing and allowed it to happen. She didn't even say "no". Most people would probably stop doing those things after they had been buttaulted a few times. But she kept putting herself back in that situation, over and over again.

As the old saying goes: The definition of insanity is "Doing the same thing over and over, and expecting the outcome to be different".
