In fact I would say its bad for everything. I do of course have the ability to remember but... Been there, done that... :- I don't know how things are in other countries, but here we had an agenda, by which I mean a real agenda book, with the lessons for the next day etc. It was mandatory that the parents signed the agenda every week. On occasions where you would be misbehaving, a teacher could be writing a note in your agenda in red ink, on the page that the parents have to sign. At one time, they had stolen my agenda from my case and had written some loveual note in red ink about me and a (not too attractive) female teacher in it, on that very page. I wanted to keep it quiet, but my mother always had the habit of going through my stuff behind my back after I had came home from school - she was looking for cigarettes or signs of tobacco, in which case if she found them I would be severely punished - and she had found the note. After my parents confronted me with it, I told them the truth. I had no other choice. My mother phoned my tutor, and he addressed the matter the next day. The guys who had been responsible for that were punished immediately. As a result, they awaited me outside of school, while I was on my way to the bus station. I was then kicked and headbutted a few times... Name-calling was part of the treatment, yes. In my case, one of the people in my clbutt - a really ice-cold psychotic guy who had a craving for cruelty and violence, and an outspoken admiration for Adolf Hitler and Ayatollah Khomeini - was a sketch artist, and he would sometimes draw a life-size humiliating cartoon about me on the blackboard, or write my nickname on the blackboard in large capitals, or something other that would draw the teacher's attention and would cause the whole group to burst out in laughter. Some teachers simply wiped off that cartoon or whatever was on the blackboard so as to make room for their notes - but not wiping everything. Most of them just left it all in place and wrote their course notes in a different corner of the blackboard, leaving my humiliation for all to see during the entire clbutt - and often for the next group that would attend clbutt there in the hour afterwards. It was things like the latter that caused my social position to spill over into other clbutt groups. Not only was the school more interested in its posh reputation - there was a strong Jesuit doctrine there, as well as the snobby atbreastude to go with that - but they were also afraid of these guys. Not because any of them would physically buttault a teacher or the Principal, but because of the riots and scenes of ridicule they were so good at generating. It was all a matter of ego. Both to the school and to the bullies... P.S. - 1: See my reply to Erik for further explanation of the circumstances. P.S. - 2: When we were approaching the end of the last year of highschool, the psychopathic guy who made those drawings told me that on the day that we'd get our school reports, the whole group would wait until we'd all left the school - so nobody could harm their school results anymore - and then they would take me away somewhere and beat the life out of me. I don't know whether he was serious or not - people like me can't tell the difference - but he sure seemed to be eagerly looking forward to that day, so I didn't want to take the risk of ending up in hospital, or even worse. When that day came, I had my father drive me to school and after I picked up the report, I got back to his car as fast as I could, so as to stay alive and never have to see their faces again... But in the end, they didn't have to kill me or beat me up so badly that I'd need to spend time at a hospital. The real damage had already been done long before that threat was made, and in a *very* effective manner... -- With kind regards, Running as root I've noticed that even though in most circles it's considered standard practice to run your Windows... *Aragorn* (Registered GNU-Linux user #223157)
