Thank you for that most interesting story, Aragorn My general take is that casual, occasional bullying may be considered 'normal', but such systematic and violent behaviour as you experienced is certainly not, nor should your teachers have ignored it for so long. But, I am sorry to say, the Catholic church seems to have had that atbreastiude to many wrong-doings among its own. For what it's worth, they probably did not understand fully what it was like on your side of the fence - as you suggest, they may have believed quite sincerely they were toughening you. In past times this might have been appropriate. But when you were recieving your education, those times had pbutted. It's easy to dismiss such things as kids play, but in the adult world, beating people up is called buttault, and frequently punishable by a prison term. And there is certainly a large difference between an honest fight between equals, and a gang kicking one weaker individual around. Unfortunately, this kind of behaviour seems to be more common-place than it was. I was bullied a little as a child - nothing like as badly as you, mostly name-calling and the like - and I know the scars do remain.
