But it isn't going to be you asking him to, is it? You'll say "oh, yeah, he messed up", but you won't go so far as to actually criticize any of his decisions or demand that he make any changes. You will trash the mayor though, a man who you knew nothing about until two weeks ago.
But he's a Democrat and you didn't vote for him, so it is easy to do that.

I'll tell you what Jim. If a disaster like this hits your area, and it turns out that your mayor and governor are just as bad (and they will be), and there is no federal help because everything's been privatized or handed over to incompetent political hacks in the name of some weird ideology, I'll sip a martini in your honor and say: "Well, it is Jim's own damn fault that he {watered, burned up, washed away, blew away}. He should been more prepared."
The locals screwed up, but no worse than the locals always screw up. Local government can usually figure out how to deal with a plane crash or a refinery fire, but they are not at all able to come up with a reasonable plan to deal with their whole city being wiped out, much less carry it out under pressure.
This whole thing is about the Bush administration trying to absolve Dear Leader of blame, nothing more. It is about Scott McClellan saying over and over to the press that he's not playing the "blame game" while Rove and Bartlett are busy calling up their contacts and doing just that.
Just like they did during the election. Do you think the "Swift Boat Veterans" just arose spontaneously? Do you think this deal about the busses is just a grbuttroots thing, the little people holding the mayor to account?
This administration is good at only one thing Jim, and that is smearing people who question them. You've been had, duped, suckered, and used. One day you will realize it, hopefully before this bunch of clowns turns the US into a third-world country.
You're a smart guy, so I'm holding out some hope.
