I admit that I have had versions that were very slow to load, but OO 2 has proved itself extreemly capable.
For example, I came across a couple of the office staff doing some very large mail merges that were grinding quite a powerful XP machine to a halt. Its a company name change so every customer and supplier who's accounts have been shown activity in the last four years had to be informed. That is many thousand documents. I moved her to my Linux client, set off the mail merge and OO didn't even break into a sweat. The two printers did of cause, sweat and blood everywhere, even the expensive seemingly high spec printers these days seem a bit feeble when you make them work for a living.
I use OO constantly in my own work and the only problem is the occasional crash, quite rare but you have to make sure auto-save is on because it will sometimes happen. The bug is to do with the sizing of the windows, sometimes if you grab an edge all OO will vanish. I have reported it, unfortunately they are no error messages and it has a random quality about it so it is hard to be specific to the OO people about what causes it to happen. But it happens on three different distros, two on kde one on gnome.

The article does hit the obvious: "I don't think better software or increased compatibility will have any effect: playing follow the leader, anoints the other guy as leader." Which is all that...
So, is there a specific area where your OO is slow?
