or you could leave it as a script, or a cronjob, or attach it to an icon or menu, in Linux, so how would OSX be easier?

and again, you sidestep. You say you could do it, but not *how* How would you do it?

- From the GUI, make a compressed backup, and then transport it via an encrypted link, to a remote machine.

Kelsey shows no hostility to OSX that I can see. He disagrees with your rather badly done advocacy, and asks you to explain things that you'd obviouslay rather handwave away, but he's been quite clear that he doesn't know if you can do the task in the OSX GUI, which is why he asked you how to do it, and how it would be "easier to use" than on Linux.

please don't sidestep the question I have repeatedly asked.

Snit Ok, you never said that you downloaded it as freeware. I'm buttuming like so many Mac products that have worth...

no, you handwaved it away, claiming that it could be done, and that it would somehow be easier on OSX. You didn't actually explain *how* it would be done, nor how that was somehow easier on OSX.

Once would be sufficient.

When someone asks how something is done, then telling them how to do it, would be a nice answer. But your answer doesn't do that. There is no way to replicate the task, from your description. I can't take the iBook sitting next to me, and use your description to perfrom the requisite task. I *can* take Kelsey's description, and pretty much cut and paste the very lines he typed, and perform the task.

else to perform the task.

You can also use the CLI in OS X. The CLI, however, is rarely used by most users. The GUI tools are used far more often because they are more discoverable...

Gee, a couple different problems with your comments: 1) The last time someone in this discussion told me...
