In this case, my definition of 'easy' is like in picking his pockets by selling him a GUI tool to do the same 'easy' tasks in the CLI. The clueless will think that they are getting something fancy... just an eyecandy wrapper for the same old stuff.

Snit What does *raw postscript* have to do with backing up data? Funny that the lp daemon on Solaris, if hooked...

'easy' becomes easy when one finally understands the concepts involved clearly. If I can absorb the sum total of all that linux or any UNIX has to offer at the command line in a console session, and I see it clearly, then it will be easy for me to do anything without a GUI.

It has something to do with what you call eyecandy wrappers - you could just write raw PS with a program like notepad. What could be easier? OK: but I bet you still use a word...

OS X isn't that intuitive as some of the Mac advocates claim it is.

Backing up a user account is no where to be found on the help system. Nor is 'backing up data' an easy to understand concept for them. One individual posted and said "No one backups data these days".

So you see, you are really dealing with knuckle draggers here, not IT workers.

Hehehe... try and look underdev for the read-write capability of the cd rom drive in OS X. If its there, it sure isn't intuitive that there is such a device and that using a simple script I can then just backup a user account to DVD or CD.

Nope. Just looks sharper on the screen is all. It just boils down to some apps that apple has written that makes a few things more interesting to do, but not easier.

Oh, I agree. He is also known for trolling a lot, with his hand-waving and snipping of complete context.

You *could* write raw postscript and send it to the printer and get darn near any output you wanted. I bet you use a word...

Hehehe...
