While I might agree in most circumstances, this particular mention differs slightly:

1. I donotadvocate, call for, or in any way think it appropriate that all political discussion should be stopped or ignored. In fact I carry on quite a number of political discussions in quite a number of places. I once had a job where I was scolded roundly for my seeming inability to avoid political discussions. Instead of adapting to the demands placed on me, I quit. I'm very opinionated, and I think my opinions are as valid (actually, like most people, I think my opinions aremorevalid and enlightened) as anyone else.*

2. I DO think some places are more conducive than others for such discussions. I also believe that such discussions are destructive in some circumstances and in some places. There are plenty of places in between where things might be mildly harmful, mildly helpful, generate a lot of thought, enlighten others to the ways some races, nationalties, lovees, ages, religions, creeds and education levels view things and so forth. But that also means some places are guaranteed to cause more harm than good.

If anyone would like to go start WW III in a political group, I'm open. I just don't personally believe it's helpful in an advocacy group. Particularly one already overrun with trolls trying to create havoc.

Again, it's just an opinion and an observation made based upon the bias in that opinion. I certainly don't have any authority to alter the behavior of others, nor would I want such authority.**

* The local newspaper, just today, put out a call for people to submit material concerning their own opinions on matters of political and-or social import. They'll decide who will be called to write opinion pieces, up to 5 times in the next year, and pay $75 for each piece. I'm considering submitting my own entry. I don't care about the $75 per article pittance. I want the opportunity to educate and elucidate. The only thing giving me pause is that I'm not sure I can keep the writings short enough for an opinion piece.
