buttuming I really wanted to use them (I don't), they'd need to: 1. Create an operating system. They still haven't bothered to do that, or even to attempt writing one. Their efforts so far wouldn't qualify. They can't do anything to fix the current mess, so it would be best if they threw it out and started over. This only requires action by MICROS~1 as that's the answer to your question. For operating systems in general, I already have one. So I don't really care if they try making one or not. But if they make a good faith effort to create one some day, I promise I'll try it out. 2. Fill in the gaping holes in whatever they ship. That, by virtue of what needs to happen, leaves everything they already have out of the equation. 3. Stop spying on people who spend money on their products. That's enough to keep them busy for the next 40 years or so. Once they do those I could take a look and see what else needs to be done. 16. Virus scanning 17. Spyware scanning 18. Using restore points-backups to recover from bad patches 19. Working around executables disguised as other things contained in emails and other documents 20. Spending money to get real capability that doesn't come with the default product, like items mentioned under 4, 6, 7, 11, 13 (both of them) and 12 (the second one) -- "One world, one web, one program" -- Microsoft promotional ad "Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Fuehrer" -- Adolf Hitler
