Terminology 101: Intuition, ease of learning 3304Snit I'm not Eric but the one example that I always find myself doing is: find . -name 'foo' -print I suppose there's a graphical search utility somewhere in Linux but it's not there when I need it. The other issue is permissions. In Linux (as in Windows) I'm usually in my regular "work" account - non admin-root. So now I need to editetc-fstab oretc-samba-samba.conf. Not sure how to easily do that from the GUI. So it's simplier easier for me to 'sudo' or 'su' and edit the file in vi or emacs. There are surely other ways of doing this but this is simply my personal work habit.
DOS or it's bigger brother cmd.exe is quite bad. Bash is nice and I've use it on nearly all my systems. But every now and then I get behind someone elses computer and arrgghhh!!!!!
Terminology 101: Intuition, ease of learning 3306 Kelsey Bjarnason Samuel Adams to the rescue... maybe. OS X isn't any easier than Linux. What the younguns don't get is that it was the... It does take time to get to the point where someone is comfortable with a CLI. For a new computer user the CLI is likely to be so intimidating that they will quit using the computer long before they ever get the chance to become experienced.
