OK. I would guess that it also controls the look and feel of the close print dialog - for those programs that are compliant. I buttume a DE is the same as a DM? I have played with it and never really liked it. Could be due to my having two actual desktops - or perhaps Expos... another solution to a similar problem. Where I seem multiple desktops having an advantage is if you are working on multiple projects, each project having multiple windows. With mult. desktops you can swap projects easily. A project, of course, may or may not really be tied together - for example you may have one project of web design where you have your design tool, an image editor, and a web browser, and another "project" of general communication stuff - e-mail, Usenet, IM, whatever... and of course it is fully configurable to how a person works. Where Expos has the advantage is quickly seeing lots of stuff in a small space and allowing better arbitrary jumping around... often I want windows from different projects to all show. Of course you *can* accomplish the same things with either one, but each has strengths the other lacks. Fair enough.
