The Windope eXpee Homo Edition Community is Killing Clippy. Whoop! Whoop! Whoop!! 3786
I paid nothing for that version as well, in fact I got it before they had triggers-and-stored-procedures-and-subqueries. It did everything I needed then and still does. Of course I'm not a DBA or IT mangler, I'm just a lowly code monkey, churning out software to make someone else rich. I'd tend to agree here, the only office type application I use at home is a word processor, so having OOo installed just strikes me as excessive, I really prefer something small and lightning fast for the odd occasion I need to write a letter. Usually I'll just use AbiWord. Of course most of my office type tasks are done at work where they use MS Office which I also think is too big and slow, but what can you do, they pay my wage so I guess they can tell me what to use at work. That and to maximise revenue :-) Why not, they have for every release so far. Actually, that's exactly what they should be doing, charging all the traffic will bear. After all, that's why they're in business. Personally, unlike a lot of people here, I don't want Microsoft to disappear, they provide a valuable service by attracting all those virus and malware writers away from the less attractive (for their purposes) linux. Despite Linux' superiority in this area, I'm under no illusion, if it had the full attention of such people, they'd find ways to compromise it. What I found was that all those extra little purchases... That's not really true, if you're the only one in the market (or very nearly so) you can charge whatever you want.
