Hi Rick, Re: Why Platinum's admin allowed me to use his wireless LAN,

Why is Microsoft so successful
Read why these Harvard Business School professors think so: "Microsoft has remained at the top of its game for more than two decades-a time of tremendous technological...

Well, Rick, I'm sure you'll get a kick out of this story... Although Platinum was benching at 1.5 mbps down... it was only .25 mbps up.

I made the mistake of uploading a few 100+ meg files, which sucked up virtually all of his upload bandwidth for many many hours.

Another reason it took so long was because I wasn't using a decent FTP client, ...failed uploads could not be resumed. CuteFTP Pro ( cracked ) is a real charm... I've since discovered.

Shortly after that bullpoo of mine, Platinum went down and then came backup in secure mode. ...Ha ! I really deserved that one, I must admit.

So now I'm stuck using much slower, less reliable LANs.

Well, I don't really want to make you feel so sad, but flaming the opposition is part of...

I'm also looking into Comcast's cable offerings.

Now, as a life-long programmer, I'm trained read very deliberately, So imagine my surprise when, after: 1. Reading their FAQs. 2. Steping through their online ordering sytem. 3. E-mailing their customer support and then waiting in vain for three business days. All I could find was contradictory-missing information about their upload speeds-prices.

I think Comcast's customer support were confused because I also asked about how consistent their upload speeds are compared to DSL. ...Next time I'll keep it to one just one line: What upload speeds-prices do you offer ?

I'm thinking that it's 43 dollars per month for .25 mbps up, 53 for .38 mbps up ( I'm also thinking that they lie about that ).

I might be able to justify the 53 dollar per month cost ( plus installation... there's no cable-jack in my room ) as a business expense... I've got to spend money to earn it.

O-o-oh... The cost of uploading !
