I might have even given it 5 eggs, if not for my past experience with Microsoft.

Just get it you'll need it. At leat its not 100 bucks and comes with SP2.

if you have to pay the Windows Tax pay it through New Egg.

Well what can you say about WXP? It beats the old days of 95,98, and ME.

be aware that the Home edition cannot connect to networks (ie. a college network) because that function was removed from the software

Not There Yet I wouldn't recommend upgrading an install your happy with just for the sake of upgrading.

Simply put, XP is better than 98 and ME

Had to install this twice before it worked right...

boy this is the slowest desktop ever - glad I am still dual boot with 98SE

First time I installed it the install must have been bad because I had minor glitches and problems start piling up. No problem though, I just reformatted and reinstalled. I think the restore utility is worthless and messes more stuff up than it fixes.

If there was a practical alternative to windows I would get that;

i got it as an OEM so it was cheaper

well i prefer linux but this is the better of all of the windows products

Microsoft stripped alot of the diskmanagement options out of here.

unfortunately... it's an improvement, but there aren't a whole lot of 64-bit extensions...and some of them are still a little buggy. Also, you'll have a few problems if you own UTGOTY, UT2003, or UT2003 dvd edition.

It's not without it's flaws
