The truth of ROOTLINUX and bug fixing is all lies begin Error Log for Fri, 24 Jun 2005 14:49:22 -0700 - "tab" follows: You're joking right? Perhaps when it was alive and well it was on a... I kept wondering why the linux freaks were dying to keep root as a god of the OS, and have users. In a business system, I can see it in some places. At home, I have no reason to see why they need it. Most peope I know been doing it for years with not problems. I found out yesterday. Xandros 3.0, with Security Patch 2 (uninstall all your applications if you are going to do this LMAO then reinstall *rolling eyes*), I had a user going to play an online subscription game. Somewhere the user was told to allow gaming access in the wirewall. So the user called me, and I had to freaking drive over there to allow access to the firewall. I get there, I click on the Xandros Firewall Configuration, and it shows a list of options. I thought, this is cool. I am feeling a little better about Linux as it had battle.net as an option. I am thinking this is really cool. Then I looked hard. The exact same option is in there twice. So I clicked several of the options, and rebooted. Holy Bat Crap. It does not allow any internet access. I turned on all the options, selecting just one of the duplicates. Nope. I click access to everything. Nope. I rebooted. Nope. No internet access. So I have to FREAKING GOOGLE to fix this. Yep, 4 freaking hours later, I got it back to normal. Windows XP Price 16892 DFS wrote something like: Doesn't really cover a lot of the functionality I have now tho... Also interesting that you add free and OSS software there to... HERE IS WHY YOU REALLY ROOT. They will give you logic, control freak logic of the 70's, but that is not the reason. The untold reason is that LINUX IS SO FREAKING EASY TO BREAK that you don't dare let anybody touch anything unless you test it on a crash machine first. That is the reason you root. Right, you not going to be getting the new cool stuff, or the latest best in clbutt, but hey, they might do it in 6 months to a year. Or 3. And if the user needs Macromedia, or Flash, or Opera, you have to get over there to install. On Windows, no hbuttles. On Xandros 3, it has a nice install, looks cool, and then then then it does not show up on the Menu's. Holy bat crap. That is why you root, and why others fight to ROOT. I have not rooted on any other machine in 10 years. THE ARTICLES These people that right articles really don't do anything. They install, try the web and office suite, and say, "Hey this rocks". They look at what is there, but never do any of it.
