Thousands more Linux desktops! 730
Thousands more Linux desktops! 731 IBM when through a horrible time in the 80's because of this, they had to lay off 300,000 people just to... yes, but the applespawn a huge economy of cheap machines that knocked out venders such as sperry, wang, xerox, control data, etc... the high point of the applewas around 30% in 1983, the rest was CP-M and commadore 64's... IBM really didn't get moving until 1983, then compaq took over in about 1985, then dell in about 1990... Thousands more Linux desktops! 733 system that did what huge mainframes were doing. where is ole Jac? Is he still alive? hum... no he wouldn't disagree with that... his pet came after the apple and-. yep, everything... sure, but it was Apple and VisiCalc that started this chain of events... VisiCalc would only work on the Applesince it was the only machine with enough Ram... later that changed of course, but during the late 70's the Applewas the box to have for business and the home.... and as a little tidbit... the applewas sold up until 1997... the longest seller of any pc form factor even to this day... but the timeline is this... So in 7 years Apple has gone from basically zero unix boxes to over 12 million, and now adding 4+ more million every year... nobody is even close to those numbers... it's really exciting to finally have a unix, the mbuttes can use... the mini will push the run rate to 6 million and we are just getting started, now that OSX is mainly finished... Thousands more Linux desktops! 732 yes, all set in motion by the Apple-, just as the Mac completely altered the print and publishing industry now is doing the same to music and video, just as a... Oh, but the more you know about the past, the better you can predict the future, and I have a pretty strong track record with this method...
