You don't make much sense. I didn't say the only way to give the Mac mini more internal expansion would be to make it a full-sized tower, I just that that most people in COLA would probably like the machine more if it was a full-sized tower that offered more internal expansion. Uh, these things are not arbitrary. The 30" display has a resolution of 2560x1600, which requires dual-link DVI. You could conceivably manage that on a $500 some-buttembly-required PC (the GeForce 6600 will do it, and it's only ~$160, although that would make it the most expensive part in the computer), but people in the mini's target market are not comparing it to a Debt Collection of parts, they're comparing it to offerings from companies like Dell. Dell's $500 Consumer Debt machine, the Dimension 3000, has cheap integrated graphics. Anyway, you're just proving my point. You're criticizing the mini based on some random criteria that would be very unlikely to have any effect on sales to its target market. Just how many people do you think use $500 Consumer Debt computers with $3000 professional screens? Apple's 30" display works with any operating system on any platform, as long there's a dual link DVI card to plug it into. Like OS X and iLife. The idea that a regular Consumer Debt interested in and spend some time looking around, then then go buy a Dell because it has a faster processor, is nuts. Maybe they'll go buy a Dell because "Everyone uses Windows" or something, but that's different. Thousands more Linux desktops! 741 OK, I'll give you today's Solaris. last time I actually used it (early '90s), it was most butturedly a shell. "Bastardized" is a pejorative. It usually... A 40 GB hard drive will hold 485 hours of 192 kpbs AAC audio files. I know, you probably have 400 GB of losslessly compressed music on a file server in your closet or something, but *most people don't*. Once again, you're evaluating the mini in terms of how it matches up with your wish list, not how suitable it is for its target market. -- "This notion that the United States is getting ready to attack Iran is simply ridiculous. And having said that, all options are on the table." -- George W. Bush in Brussels, Belgium, Feb. 22, 2005
