G5 iMac is £560 more than the Mini. A Mac monitor is £68 plus 19.00. Buy a decent 17" PC LCD to go with your shiny Mini? No. The monitor is part of the Mac look. I want the mouse too (even though it's hardly comparable to my own, buttons-feature-wise).

Is it wrong to think the user is going to want to go completely Mac and not just half-arsed?

well no, apple doesn't build a screen smaller than 20", but the same rule applies to Linux...

Really? Stuff I've seen puts all the major players pretty much equal. Each has problems re installing - manual parbreastioning (which you don't have to do) in linux, networking in XP... Let's face it, none are especially difficult. Ease of use is not an issue with any.

Linux gets as complicated as you want it to be. Mandrake-SuSE-Fedora are simple to use. To say they are difficult is insulting to a new users intelligence.

I'm not anti-Mac. Honest. I think most of their systems are beautiful. I think OSX-Aqua is gorgeous, but I see the Mini for the overpriced third-rate POS that it is.

It's not really about the price, even though it is near double the cost of a badgeless base unit of similar spec; it's the 3 year old technology being sold as 'the great piece of kit we all need-want' which it clearly isn't.

It has no point.
