You are vastly overstating the available variables. As I said, even software is predictable enough that if given an apparently identical set of starting conditions the end result should be roughly the same.

Tell us why my install would have not been hung up on a particular PACKAGE while his was. That's something that's entirely dependent on the code in question and not a function of differing hardware.

Sure it is. It's useful to get reliable information and not highly biased BS. At the very least, my experiences show that the alleged problem is not universal and that there are infact people (lots actually) that have managed to use the Ubuntu install CD's successfully.

Infact, I myself came by them by sneakernet evangelism that would not have occured if we take this crank's comments on face value.

Infact, my experience represents a number of successful trouble free installs compared to one that doesn't fit the larger collection of data.
