Users Push Merits of Linux on the Desktop 16758begin risky.vbs Why bizarre? Company security policy does not allow any direct connections to any Windows system from an untrusted network. I've stated on numerous occasions on COLA that MS got it right, at least from a feature point of view, of the email calendar scheduling functionality of Exchange + Outlook. I'm not saying I like using outlook but the integrated features are excellent. During the late 90's it really looked like MS had pulled it off and convinced most companies that having a single provider for both server and desktop was a good thing. Sadly for MS NT4 was such a piece of crap until, if my memmory serves me correctly, SP6a. By that time, the problems with NT4 on servers had some people thinking that maybe going all MS was not such a good idea. There are also far more sinister ramifications... Tidying up after Linux 16762 Consider a text editor, editing file "foo". ILOVEYOU took down the companies Exchange email for several days. Luckily I get most of my mail delivered to a *nix account so wasn't to badly affected. These, and the continuing stream of exploits directed at Windows has cost businesses world wide many many billions of dollars. Well Bill, everything I wrote is fact. Whether you believe it or not is irrelevant to me. I just have a feeling I may have a little more credibility than you. Its historical bill. Like I said, at one time it looked like MS had all but won the desktop server OS war. Companies have invested a fortune adopting MS SW. Also, until recently there was no alternative to Windows on the corporate desktop. Their illegal actions in maintaining their desktop monopoly hasn't exactly helped anyone either. Funny that it should take Linux OSS to scare MS so much that they make it their number one threat. Funny, because MS just don't have a clue how to fight it. They can't buy it, they can't put it out of busines and sure as hell they can't beat it on a level playing field. As more and more companies and governments demand open standards MS's proprietory lockin will be their undoing. Well, once again Bill, you are just wrong. As for hiding my post I presume you mean using 'begin '. Seriously Bill, you aren't stupid enough to use OE are you? Oh, you are. LOL!!!
