Well I guess I'll be boycotting Apple 10074Well I guess I'll be boycotting Apple 10075 C Lund The problem with that logic is that it presumes 2 things: any other x86 system out there than the one Apple will offer. Apple's chosing Intel over AMD blows a big gaping...
But, by definition, you and other people who want to run OS X on generic hardware are not customers. :-) Given the prices on Dell PCs, they're about disposable anyway. I'd certainly like to see Apple reduce their prices on Macs. But I also find the Mac to be very nice to work with, and it's not a bad deal as it is. I bought a new Dell recently, and I've already gone through the finger-pointing bit where they tell me to go to MS and MS says it's Dell's problem. Then Dell tells me to re-install the OS. Since Apple is a single-vendor solution, you tend to get better support without all the finger-pointing. You may also be more likely to actually get things fixed since you aren't dependent on a third-party for the OS. I'd say I got what I paid for with the Dell. But I think I'd get what I paid for with the Mac too. I don't expect Apple to sell me OS X for use with a Dell PC. If I want a Mac, I'll buy a Mac. You pays your money and makes your choices. Everyone has different needs, wants, and likes. I don't need, want, or like all the malware that's written for Windows. :-)
