What I Would Pay

I got FC3 freely, but I've paid for Red Hat 9 and Mandrake. But the money you pay it's very little, about $50 or $60, and you get a lot of software for that money.

I didn't know that. That's really a problem. I've heard some people have the same problem with some modem drivers.

I have a lot of drivers that I have to recompile everytime I change my kernel, but I don't find it a problem, like the one you talk about with the soundcard. I spent much more time tweaking my XP (for wich I paid $150) to work with my hardware and some software.

It would be better if I didn't have to do it, but it's not really a problem for me. But it's my opinion, I can understand it's a problem for you.

That makes sense, but if we pay for the drivers or the support the problem will get greater. What we should do it's to ask the companies that sells Linux distributions to support all the common hardware.
