What drives Bill Gates 1804sberry Well, I don't agree that advocacy is the principal purpose of the group. I've had this discussion before, so I won't go into it much, but I think that a large part of the group is sparring over linux vs Windows in terms of technical, social, legal, commercial, and even moral details. That's the part I like. A bunch of cola folks having a love-in over some distribution or other does not elicit any comments from me. Oh, I'm sure that they would use it now and then. Some might even make a career out of it, but they would be just as silly as the pro-linux folk who do the same. For the record, I think that linux is a wholely capable platform that is very useful to people with a unix background and serves to substantially cost reduce server operating costs while preserving linux users' investments in unix system operations experience and training. It works OK on the desktop, but is kind of a forced use there and should be optimized for single-user workstation operation. No one seems capable of doing that, so it suffers in comparison to Windows. For most users, it is totally adequate and has a special appeal to computer fans who can learn a little as well, but it has no place in the middle market and is not worth supporting in that role since it doesn't bring anything to the party. What drives Bill Gates 1805 billwg I believe advocacy comes in many forms but I do know what you mean. It would be bloody boring ifallyou read was 'Such-and-such an... I think it has a place when you are makeing a new statment or a summary. I think that there is too much re-sending of previous post content, too, but I don't say so. Fair enough. I'm a software developer in various industries that either compete with Unix-Linux solutions, provide Unix-linux solutions, or even use linux solutions for on-line games. What drives Bill Gates 1806 I don't see these things as "blatant lies" by any means. Technical marketing is based on the concept of "Feature, Function, Benefit, and Proof" (FFBP) and...
