I believe advocacy comes in many forms but I do know what you mean. It would be bloody boring ifallyou read was 'Such-and-such an app is great', 'Linux is awesome' -type messages.

Me too.

You mentioned the word 'opponent' further up. I don't see the troll$ as my opponents, in fact I get great enjoyment from some of their posts. The only part I don't like is when blatant lies are told and sock puppets are used to lend credence to the OP. Truth be told, if I was sat in a pub talking to a person, it would be enough that they loved computers as much as I do. This would ensure we'd 'get on'. The question of OS would, no doubt, arise, but judging somebody by their OS of choice is a bit silly and not something I would do.

Agreed. I, myself, am guilty of using the begin bug, but only once and in anger.

sberry I've never been all that disturbed by manufacturer's claims of superiority, regardless of how blatant...

That's kinda different to what the real BillWG would have you believe. Can you understand the anger FUD arouses? To be told a blatant lie, such as that told in the 'Get the Facts' advert, is to offend your intelligence.

I think the truth probably lies in the middle of our views.

Truth is, Linux was developed for business needs-purposes for a long time. It is only the last few years where developers have started looking at the desktop and I expect great things to arrive, in time.

MS, themselves, have admitted OSS has the ability to 'acheive and exceed' the quality CSS can provide. I think this will become apparent before Longhorn arrives. And there lies the crux of it: MS are betting on a release schedule of years whereas, in OSS, the pace is much faster. This could be down to MS being limited to the endeavours of 30000-35000 programmers in comparison to the 100000+ (and growing daily) OSS contributors.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'middle market'. If it's the home market, I started with Linux in around '97-'98, at a time where the releases didn't hold your hand anywhere near like they do now. Give it a couple of years and any question concerning ease of use will be long forgotten - like how installation is a doddle now, in comparison to days gone by.

The only time 'bottom posting' annoys me is when you have to scroll 300 lines just see a bloody 'lol'.

I don't see these things as "blatant lies" by any means. Technical marketing is based on the concept of "Feature, Function, Benefit, and Proof" (FFBP) and all of the world's business schools teach the need...

Sounds interesting, particularly the online gaming side. I wish you continued success.

begin oeprotect.scr That would certainly be boring. I would prefer to see (as I was saying just a couple of years...
