Windows has cost companies billions because of its insecure design. The fact that you need to buy additional SW just to make the OS slightly more secure is a huge cost in itself. Any organisation that relies heavily on Windows is taking a huge hit on their bottom line.

This is exactly what I have said many many times. The wintrolls keep on about Linux not ready for the home user. The games aren't there, etc. Of course it isn't as none of the major OEM's provide pre-configured Linux systems for private buyers with support.

For businesses and government organisations with their own IT support departments the pressure to move to Linux OSS solutions is becoming very high. As I mentioned in a previous post the company I work have stated that OSS solutions must be chosen if available.

As you say, when people become familiar with Linux in their work place they will want it at home too.

Most people where I work have Windows on their desktop as to be expected but more and more are switching to Linux. Many are just totally fed up with MS SW. It says a lot when people are so frustrated with it that they'll go to a considerable effort to use Linux and set it up to fit in with the Windows dominated corprate environment. Of course the Linux users are very willing to buttist.
