Working with Linux on a PC
Well, I now have played with Linux on my PC. Let's start with the disclaimers: * I spend a couple hours with it playing, with both Ubuntu...

I dropped off Usenet entirely for awhile. During that period, I switched from SuSE to Mepis because I couldn't afford to upgrade to a newer SuSE at the time. Since I wasn't posting, I didn't bother configuring Leafnode.

I started posting again when I got my current job. For some reason, I'd been hired right in the middle of a mbuttive conversion effort, and nobody had time to train me for several weeks, so I started posting from work to kill time.

Now I have all of these filters set up and threads with various marks. Posting from home would be a PITA because, obviously, none of that information carries over.

So, that is why I am setting up Leafnode again (finally) and picking a news client that I can run remotely. That way, I can post from home, from work, from my grandma's house, wherever, and have all my settings available. The only obstacle right now is learning how to secure my NNTP port, and I'm sure it'll take all of ten seconds to find documentation for that.

Note that the difference between those is 7 hours, and you appear to be in a time zone that...

So, that's my story. It's the truth, but if you choose to disbelieve it, that's fine. I don't expect everyone to like me or trust me.
