Why do people switch to Linux 13502On Sat, 29 Oct 2005 10:11:23 -0400, DFS Why do people switch to Linux 13503 Kier I am new to linux, and I have a lot in common with those people in that survey. My interest in linux came out of curiosity from... What are you talking about, stinky? Certainly not me, since I am neither. Where do I claim it represents all Linux users? It represents a large group of ordinary Linux users from all parts of the world. It doesn't. The kind of people who post to COLA don't really represent the wider community. They are more representative of a narrower type of user. Most users don't even post to any Usenet group. We're a self-selected minority. Read what *the users in this survey* said. COLA is an advocacy group, you twit, which makes it far more likely that the posters will have an 'agenda' - i.e they have reasons to dislike MS and to articulate that dislike. Read any advocacy group and you will find the same behaviour - incluing any Windows advocacy group. You don't berate *them* for perfectly all right. Frankly, why should you give two tosses what anyone writes about MS - unless you have your head up their collective arses. You are such a lying idiot. You have never, ever proved that all Linux users, or even a substantial number, use Linux primarily because they hate MS. Hate Windows, possibly, but that is a different issue. A lot of Linux users hate Gnome as opposed to KDE. Mac users hate Linux. Windows users hate MacOS. Install, Reboot You point out exactly to what I was referring. Each of these boxes belong to one of our customers respectively. We do dozens of OS reinstalls or upgrades every week. The greater percentage of... Most users, like the people in this survey, use Linux because it's good, it serves their needs, and they like it. Microsoft's measure David Stonehouse The Ottawa Citizen ... For now, Microsoft is hanging back from prosecuting people for piracy in these developing markets hoping that its products catch on and... Where is your so-called incontrovertible evidence? I haven't seen any yet. All I've seen is that some COLA posters dislike MS. I don't find this particularly amazing, nor very interesting, really. You don't know enough Linux users to say what is typical of them. And which you clearly *did not read*, stinky. -- Kier
