Why do people switch to Linux 13503Kier I am new to linux, and I have a lot in common with those people in that survey. My interest in linux came out of curiosity from work colleagues who have sung it's praises. I got the opportunity of some hardware and decided that I ought to give it a try, and find out all about it. I was not unhappy with Microsoft or Windows, but I was motivated to learn more about *nix Microsoft's measure David Stonehouse The Ottawa Citizen ... For now, Microsoft is hanging back from prosecuting people for piracy in these developing markets hoping that its products catch on and they lock in users, Kotha said... I think it is a wounderfull OS and when you look at objectively, it most certainly stands on it's own merits. In this dog eat dog world, it is simple amazing to see so many people giving up their time to contribute to linux in all it's various forms. I really appreciate this because I know how long and how much effort is required in developing software. The fact that you can find whole books on linux published on the web is also amazing. The other thing that I have in common with those in the survey is that I don't hate Windows, I understand it's limitations and manage to maintain a stable system by sticking to a few simple rules. The next hardware upgrade I do, linux will be the OS of choice, not because I have something against Microsoft, but because I like the OS and because it serves my needs, and not least it is something I can continue to explore (with the help of others).
