Windows fails the EASE of USE BADLY!!! 52
Linux Fails The Family Test BADLY! 53 I do not understand why it would bother or gladden anyone regardless of what your experiences with Linux are. It is free... On Fri, 27 May 2005 05:44:32 -0700, Captain Dondo That knowledge base article was written almost 10 years ago. Things have changed a lot since then. The knowledge base is a technical support (with emphasis on TECHNICAL) tool, not a usability tool. There are literally HUNDREDS of books that have been published over the last 10 years that document various tips and tricks. There are even a few very comprehenisve ones. Microsoft sells the Resource Kit which is a volume that contains a ton of information. You might want to try Windows Annoyances, or "PC Magazine Windows XP Solutions", both of which go a long way to document and solve non-intuitive things. In a way, that's exactly what BMW does. You can't do your own maintenance without voiding your warranty, for instance. At least Microsoft doesn't threaten you with no support if you use the registry editor (though you may end up paying for support if you screw something up). It seems more like you're trying to make things too complicated. That's a trait i've witnessed in many Unix-Linux affictionado's. Find the most difficult way to do something, then crow about how great you are for having figured it out. Why did you dig and find the MOST COMPLICATED way of doing what you wanted when the simple, and intuitive way (creating a shortcut to My Computer) was so much easier?
