The foundation grant summary shows about $8B since inception having been handed out, 50% to "global health", 25% to "education", and the balance to civic quality of life projects, including the libraries and other things that you seem to want to note as not being global health contributions.

I don't know why you make such a distinction, Ray. The money and the use of the money have left Bill's pocket just like the $20 you might hand over to the Boy Scouts or whatever you choose to endow. Those organizations have an endowment fund, too, and your contribution incrementally swells the fund until some money is spent on some project or other funded by the organization.

You are trying to denigrate the contributions that Gates has made to verifiable and worthy causes as not yet having occurred because he has taken steps to make the fund self perpetuating through its investments and its officer's fiscal responsibility. That is just plain unfair. The cola choir wants to demonize Gates and show how he is all for squeezing money out of people and cannot stomach the notion that Gates is completely philanthropic. Obviously he is not motivated by acquiring more money like some real life Scrooge McDuck, he is genuinely interested in making the world a better place and has had the good fortune to be able to do just that.

You and the rest owe Gates some acknowledgment of that and you all appear as caviling and lame, showing a complete lack of good will and it is obvious to everyone that you are doing so with a complete lack of clbutt and sportsmanship.
