Working with Linux on a PC 1632
Seems that *if* one were to use only "approved" or "standard" apps for a specific window manager that you could could come close to the consistency that one finds regularly on OS X. With OS X, though, there is one primary window manager - so almost all programs work well with it. There are some Finder replacements - but the overall rules of the Mac stay consistent. Of course, if for some reason you hate the rules a Mac uses there is not much you can do about it. I suppose you could use mostly X11 apps or whatever, but then you might as well not be using a Mac. Back to the idea that OS X offers a more consistent and easier to use interface, but Linux offers greater flexibility and configurability. And Windows offers some really cool games. ;) Snit didn't go to the LUG in his area tonight Was Working with Linux on Steve Carroll I have currently over 100 posts to go browse through, but I was taking a quick glance through the newsgroup before I went to bed this evening and thought I'd make... Hmm, I did not try "Google" as a pbuttword. :) Actually I think that the readme stated it was a limitation of the LiveCD - though I could be thinking of another distro. Some of the distros have shared the root PW in the readme's. -- Feel free to ask for the recipe.
