Bad start.

No way to know regarding alternate Universes, but the truth is that Microsoft is stronger than ever, and doing very well -- most likely because Linux lit a fire up their censored, but that's the idea; give the people something of quality.

Of course, there's also fairly strong evidence that they're rushing things. Or haven't you noticed the capabilities littered along the roadway of progress to Vista's fruition?

Not even close. But Microsoft won't win the war until they can shut Linux out of the desktop. (There are several actions pending on this; presumably, for instance, the notion of securing one's desktop will allow for a managed keys system, and the manager of the keys has to be Microsoft, in any reasonable scenario, since Microsoft is the OEM of choice. Who's choice, I don't know, but they are top dog and will continue to be for some time, probably 40 years or so if current trends in microprocessor advancements start slowing down; there's only so small a transistor can get and they're already in the 0.1 micron range, which makes their gate sizes about 500-1,000 atoms in width.)

the parade of butt clowns disguised as windiot advocates is dumber than dumb. all of you idiot wintards combined...

It's a slow evolution. At some point, the Executive branch will have to allow Microsoft to get back into the Unix market, and then Microsoft can deal with this "rogue, upstart hacker's OS" properly -- by subsbreastuting one of their own which is exactly like Linux, only better, more secure, and more ubiquitous. It will also of course be almost exactly like Windows' good points (which are functionality, ubiquity, and monosity -- or perhaps monopoly? -- basically, one size fits all and everyone knows it).

rest snipped for brevity

Lie of the 40's = Linux on the desktop Lie of the 50's = Linux on the desktop Lie of the 60's = Linux on the desktop Lie of the 70's = that there *is* a desktop of any sort

(BTW, it's dash dash space CR.)

What's up with the trolls
Well... I've had two long days behind me. Yesterday, it was already like 4 AM before I actually starting reading through...
