Dell Snub Linux, Then Fade Away
HP has been aggressively marketing "Linux Friendly" machines. These machines are shipped with Windows XP home edition, but can very easily be converted to Linux with minimal effort. HP initially shipped...

I'm not sure which guy in particular you're referring to but it certainly sounds like it could be me.

All the machines and users in my house login through the domain controller. All the systems are current with the latest service packs and security updates. The entire network is behind a Linksys router-firewall.

All the accounts (with the exception of Admin of course) only have "User" permissions. Not "Admin", not "Power User" but simply "User." This prevents any software getting installed or any changes to be made that affects the system. Things like Active-X controls, etc simply can't be installed. The **ONLY** time the Admin account gets used is to install new software, which isn't very often.

ws Not feeling terribly guilty. Not sure who he was referring to but I've made similar claims to whoever this was so it might...

There are several hundred million Windows users in this world. Most of them run as Admin-root 100% of the time because they don't have a clue how to configure and use less priviledged accounts. Of course they are far more likely to get infected.

Where is the problem? I have yet to have ANY computer infected. Explain to me how I could get my system compromised this way?

This can obviously be done. Don't you think that hackers would love to take down Microsoft.com? What was the last time that happened? And when it did happen (several years ago) they didn't hack into the machines and take over the systems. It was a denial of service attack.

Then there's Dell.com, eBay.com and etc. They all use MS software directly on the net. These sites don't go down either. Why not if Windows is so vulnerable and inherently insecure?
