No, my criticizing Vista requirements was because it would require major upgrades to existing systems running Windows, probably resulting in many persons scrapping perfectly good systems just to be able to purchase one capable of running the new version.

I don't see the minumum requirements change so drastically between versions of Linux distros, which means a person can upgrade to the latest version of the software without having to go out and purchase a whole new system.

I've always stated this, for some reason your winwashed brain just refuses to see it. It only seems to register with you wintards if I say something positive about Linux and negative about Windows.

Contrary to what you think, I am not totally removed from reality as you appear to be. I can admit bad with Linux, too bad you don't seem to be able to do the same for your platform of choice.

Nope, no and haha! First of all, I'm not a "nerd", I'm a "geek". I don't know exactly what the difference is, but for what it's worth, that's what I refer to myself as. Secondly, for some odd reason I've never had much problem with finding female companionship, sometimes unwantedly so.

Finally, you would be hard pressed to find any Windows only diagnostic or recovery tool that couldn't be found on a Knoppix CD if you know what to look for and how to use it, which obviously you don't. Admittedly, write support for NTFS is a little sketchy, but that's really not an issue unless you are attempting a malware scan and clean on an NT based system.

It's funny, I have vendors calling my shop all the time trying to sell us some great one-of-a-kind Windows diagnostic tool-app-utility, and I usually just ask them what it does, how much it is, then kindly tell them no thanks I already have that capability and it cost me nothing *click*.

Kier Realistic, monkey boy. Blacks kill more blacks than whites do. Blacks kill more whites than blacks kill whites. But that is okay for...

I never "turned around", this has always been my position. I was just expressing that perhaps I've been a little too prejudgemental in my opinions and statements concerning the usefullness of certain commercial proprietary software.

Don't worry, I am not nearly about to convert to the "Dark Side" if that's what you're concerned about. I'm a Linux-OSS user for life, but I do respect other options as well, unlike yourself.

Certainly you should. I've never lost data on a Linux system through no fault of my own. Surely can't say that about Windows.

I've never had malware on Linux. Didn't on Windows either, but that was some time ago and with extremely paranoid usage.

rapskat So? That's their choice. They don't have to purchase Vista, and they don't have to upgrade their system. You don't know...

Ask me do I care what someone like you thinks...go ahead, ask me.

Yes, it can be if not properly configured and administered, just like Windows. With Linux you have much more control over the system than you do with Windows though, so if something isn't configured correctly, ultimately the fault lies with the user and not the system.

With Windows, you can always shovel the blame off on the system because in truth there isn't much you are allowed to do to fix it. But with Linux, there are no such copouts.

My customers also run Windows, and many run Linux now as well. Installing a Linux system makes their jobs easier and also my job easier supporting them, even for the Windows clients. With the great remote administration tools available on Linux I can even go in remotely and fix their Windows systems without having to make a site call. And I don't expose their networks to the potential issues that could crop up by putting a Windows system as a gatekeeper.

That's even better. I use Open Source software to fix and repair Closed Source software, which means greater profit margins for me, and better prices for my customers.

Oh, that's right, it's a P166 right? Sorry, I forgot, you don't run old outdated hardware, that's only for us Linux users.

No lies here, I leave that to eXPerts like yourself. I duly note that you have yet to provide screenshots of your winsystem doing similar tasks to what I show mine doing, but you had no problems making claims that your system was "just as capable" of doing so.

Anytime you want some more, just let me know, k?
