3 Days Wasted Trying To Make Linux Work. 1041on Fri April 28 2006 07:28: I remember my first Linux install. When I was 14 (9 years ago), I was working in a computer repair shop, and we were working on a large amount of Windows 3.x, DOS, and Windows 95 machines. I was always complaining about the software because I thought it was crappy (in fact, I nearly always used DOS because I liked it better then Windows, and that was what I got started with when I was around 4, with MS-DOS 2.11 on a Cordata CS40). 3 Days Wasted Trying To Make Linux Work. 1043 In comp.os.linux.advocacy, Ivan Marsh wrote on Fri, 28 Apr 2006 11:08:39 -0500 Unproven but probable. Certainly trolls can be users too; in fact the best ones are... Anyway, one of the technicians that was working there had been working with Linux and other UNIX installations in a health care facility in the area, and he gave me a copy of a Slackware '96 disk, and taught me a slew of other things that I didn't know at the time. I played with that for quite a while, and moved around to different distributions and the like. For the most part, I didn't seek out additional help, and I poked around myself, and I was just fine and dandy. me started on the way. Suffice it to say, I was quite happy with it. Fortunately, things have gotten to be a ton easier, and there is tons more software to run on it these days in the way of desktop-end user stuff. 3 Days Wasted Trying To Make Linux Work. 1042 In comp.os.linux.advocacy, iforone wrote on 28 Apr 2006 11:57:19 -0700 Depends on one's viewpoint. For someone familiar with Unix and standards, Windows is problematic... - Mike
