A Linux Distribution Comparison Matrix Which Linux is best for Me
This thread is not a question I'm posting to answer for me explicitly - but a notification of a recent comparison article I found....
In light of many people starting threads about which distribution is best for them -- and the plethora of indeterminate factors that are necessary in making an educated decision, I'd thought I'd throw this recent article out there, as some sort of a beginning or reference point for the bewildered. I have not formed any specific opinions yet myself, and I have yet to read this article in detail. Nor, do I personally know enough about each of the distros compared, not to mention the ones that were left out of the comparison. I'm new to linux and am just starting to get familiar with a Debian Sarge install.
The 5 distributions that are compared are;
Red Hat ES Novell SLES Fedora FC4 OpenSuSE 10 Ubuntu Breezy
Is it at all possible to get spanning desktops on two displays with ATI displays? I have a Dell Labreastude D810 with ATI Mobility X600...

Sounds like you need to set the sticky bit on the directory. That's a 1 instead of a 0 in the first digit of the permission value. Take a look at man chmod. STICKY...
but be sure to check out Page 1 for the synopsis-scope of article, or their so-called reasons for comparing only *these 5* specific distros.
Michael Heiming Thank you. Yes, I had already set that option in the apache httpd.conf, to no avail. Still...
Grading is based on a 0-5 points - 5 being the easiest, and 0 the hardest ...If anyone disagrees with any of those grades as they pertain to each specific section and subsection, I'm pretty sure those reading would love to hear it. This posting is not meant to start a flame war (i.e.; My distro is better than yours).
