A Look at Slackware Linux 10.2 5500mst use whatever distro they want. I've moved from Windows to Linux because I don't need to keep sending M$ a large chunk of my paycheck (I own 11 computers now) and I use Slackware as my distro of choice because it "just works." I'm sure there are other distros that are great, but for me, Slack is what I use. I've looked at others but keep using Slackware. I think one thing about a lot of Slackware users is we really don't care what is the distro of the month. Slack is what we know, what we like, and it doesn't crash so I see no need to move to another distro because it comes with it's own custom installer. Wowee. I'm not scared of fdisk... You've seen what happens when you make your OS "one size fits all" - it's called Windows XP. I can't stand the perpetual "dummification" in windows - yes, I'm sure I want to delete the file, yes I'm sure I want to look in c:-program files, etc... I'm sure that helps the non-technical users, but I'm a technical user and Windows doesn't have a "non-retard" mode. :) oh, and for adding users, I just copy pbuttwd, shadow, group and gshadow to the new box and make home directories from a script. It really isn't that hard, and I don't need any more handholding. A Look at Slackware Linux 10.2 5501 Anonymous Coward This might be true; but I remeber I used Debian Woody (before the release of Sarge). It was very old (much older than Slackware) and has definitively more bugs... Feel free to use the distro of the month. Heck, you can even try and convince me it's better, but it's just Linux with different packages. I don't sell people on Slackware, I try and sell them on Linux. If they want to use Linspire, that's fine. At least it gets their foot in the door and them looking at the alternatives to Windows. ok, I'll shut up now. Ray
