Hi there,

First an apology: i was NOT running as root when i tried to install the nautilius-open-termina. It works now. Sorry for the confusion. (the term "reboot" was my best transaltion of the message in my danish vesrion of fedora)

Back to my initial problem - installing wmware-workstation.

Right-clicking on the rpm file opens a context meny with the options:

Open with "Install Software" Open with "Packedge handler" ...

(beare with me if the transaltion of the danish menu options doen't match the english ones exactly - i'm sure you know what i mean)

Selecting "Install Software" open a new dialog "Install Packedge" where the WMware Workstation is shown as the item to be installed. See attached 'install software.pgn' I select the ANVEND button (ANVEND translates to APPLY, SELECT or USE).

The a message appears "Downloads packedge" even though the file in on a CD in the local CDROM drive (se pgn file).

Then a warning appears that the software is not signed. I select 'Install anyway'

On 23 Jun 2006, in the Usenet newsgroup comp.os.linux.misc, in article OK - any firewall being used? Can this windoze box ping the Internet? Can it ping the Ubuntu box? OK. Can the...

Then a message "Updating software" appears for a short while, and finally the message "Software installed successfully" is shown. I select Ok, and the dialog closes.

Apparently all should be in order, but i simply cant find the installed program anyware. Runing the verious commands yields the following results.

usr-bin-which: no wmware in (-usr-kerberos-sbin:-usr-kerberos-bin:-usr-local-sbin:-usr-local-bin:-sbin:-bin:-usr-sbin:-usr-bin:-usr-X11R6-bin:-root-bin)

pakken WMware-Workstation er ikke installeret

("the packedge WMware-Workstation is not installed". I tried without the hyphen with the same result)

usr-kerberos-sbin:-usr-kerberos-bin:-usr-local-sbin:-usr-local-bin:-sbin:-bin:-usr-sbin:-usr-bin:-usr-X11R6-bin:-root-bin

Thanks Erik
