ACPI and network on Toshiba note 350
Is there a workaround for Thunderbird in a corporate environment 352 Well, yes. That's the way it's worked for the last 30 years or so. Time for a quick history lesson. Originally MUAs ran on the server alongside the... Pleae stop talking about ACPI! It is your NIC that is not doing what you want (probably not working), not ACPI. Yes, ACPI may be the cause of that, but that isn't your problem. I WISH you would stop going on about ACPI! You really don't.
Is there a workaround for Thunderbird in a corporate environment 351 On Sun, 05 Feb 2006 07:17:16 -0800, Andrew DeFaria Hi Andrew DeFaria, You are enbreastled to your opinion and I will not argue with you further as the intent of the usenet record... Please stop this! To all appearances your NIC is not working, and you refuse to consider it! It's bizarre. It's like watching a person with an arm that is paralyzed claiming they are happily throwing a ball.
Nothing to do with anything, apparently. But if you could turn off IPV6 please that would be helpful. What the heck is "ath0"? Works fine. Not working at all, or not connected.
Working at least somewhat. Iwconfig might say.
You have no idea of several things and yet you keep making unwarranted buttumptions based on your ideas! Just identify whatever is the device of interest, bring it up (ifconfig eth0 up), run tcpdump on it to show me it is happy, and then run dhclient eth0 and pbutt the tcpdump.
Aaaaaaaah. Well, what is an "atheros device"? Would you mind describig what it is and how it is cnnected to yoru computer, please. Also the driver. Don't load the ipv6 module, and remove that ipv6 mess from the end ofetc-hosts. Probably some more too .. google will tell you (I won't, because I don't know how to get rid of something I don't have).
No it isn't - please do not make these buttumptions (I certainly can't). ifup runs a whole mountain of scripts. You do not run uncontrolled experiments. Run ifconfig, and dhclient (or whatever) and NOTHING ELSE.
What makes you think it does? Please show the tcpdump output from a few seconds of listening ... enough to show some incoming packets.
Is there a workaround for Thunderbird in a corporate environment 353 Jon Kennedy Indeed. Your hypothesis is entirely correct, and as one who setup sendmail so many times I... Just turn off the acpi IRQ steering. As I said, it probably is something like nolocalapic. But BEFORE doing any of that, perform the simple experiment required. Peter
