Father, forgive me, for I have sinned! I got into an argument with AC. Yet indulge me one last sin!

On Mon, 21 Aug 2006 06:17:40 +0000, ANC It isn't about* new *ideas, as much as about the historical reasons for why things are the way they are with PC architecture, and how we...

I found your post pointless because it had not much to do with the original post which was announcing a book on a specific topic, but rather it enlightened us with your views on smart homes in general, commerce, health of the world, the universe, etc.

By which measure should we consider a technology wonderful? The Alan Connors in the days of yore would have objected to plumbing, because they could do away with a simple potty. The Alan Connors of today, find toilets a wonderful technology, but unpleasant woman about smart houses. The point (which you seem to have missed) is that you can't tell today what's wonderful tomorrow (or even today, for that matter). Do you get the logic now? Do you?

Who are you to say what's abuse and what's not? It's your perception only, not necessarily everybody else's.

And we can get by just fine without computers. And without cars and phones, and tvs and dvds altogether, if you try. It's all for convenience. Your point is?

So you've taken it upon yourself to save the world by campaigning against smart homes? You're losing it...

I spend 12-14 hours-day everyday in front of the computer anyway, smart home or not (no, it's not for answering you, it's mostly useful work). And I ain't fat.

Matter of fact is, I don't really disagree with the fact that there is a lot of crap out there that I don't care about. A smart house is not one of them though, be it only just because it's too cool (though a smart house may, in fact, be more energy efficient than a regular house). But I can only speak for myself. My choice is my choice, your choice is your choice. And I don't believe for a minute that because of a dummy like me, who reads books for dummies imposed upon my weak intellect by those damn-filthy rich-no good-greedy bankers and merchants, you're going to lose your choice. They still make stick shifts, don't they? (I'm driving one!)

Oh, wait a minute! This is all about your beloved topic: spam. Isn't it?
