Adding BartPE and Windows to a Linux LiveCD

I have a working tool CD, wDSL (Damn Small Linux) and BartPE (Windows XP on a live CD.) Currently, I can boot either via ISOLINUX. Throughout most of last week, I tried to make GRUB 0.97 work, but failed. I GOOGLEd my brains out, but I gave up bec I came to the following conclusions:

(1) GRUB WILL NOT boot a simple 2KB binary image (a boot sector.) Not saying that GRUB *should* do this, but ISOLINUX *does* boot it directly, and I'm hoping that someone out there knows how to make this work under GRUB.

(2) GRUB isn't very compatible with Windows. It's called the GRand Unified Bootloader, but I can't find any definitive information about making GRUB deal with Windows *on CD*. It's important to note that GRUB is *very* flexible, when dealing with any OS installed on a hdrive. I can find plenty of elaborate examples of booting different OSes on hdrive or booting different Linux distros from CD. Again, it's the issue of loading a linear binary (non-PE) executable, SETUPLDR.BIN, from GRUB.

These are my sole challenges preventing my effort from proceeding. I'm in the midst of dumping DSL in favor of my new favs: Freespire, Slax, and SimplyMEPIS. Not only are these better implementations (IMO) than DSL (they're much bigger), but one can realistically carry a working OS (or two) on a single CD-DVD, teamed wa USB thumb drive. Finally, I simply like GRUB better (it's way more flexible) and would like it even more if one could make it work in the desired configuration.

How to search several directories for duplicate files
I wish to search several directories for duplicate files. This could involve several thousands of files. I'm not sure how to best do this in Linux rather...

For the record, I've also investigated GRUB4DOS and it really isn't GRUB. Certain features (like boot-time device detection) has been hamstrung and it's even *more* focussed on booting OSes from a hdrive.

Anyway, it's my hope that someone can offer concrete examples of solutions for the two problems enumerated above. TIA....
