Some drivers become "locked" once loaded, because they're essensial to the running of the system (filesystem, disk controller, etc), but yes, as long as a driver is unused, it can be unloaded.

The unix commands are simple enough, but one shell command that's used on almost any distribution these days is called alias, which is used to add alternative names for those commands. ls is often aliased as dir, for example. Don't like a unix command name? add an alias to something more memorable. That's one tweak...

Tab's just a troll though, his endless tweaking isn't. In fact, once the system's been installed and initial setup-configuration is completed, there IS no tweaking for the average user unless he adds some software-hardware.

Once you have everything configured as you like it, why would there be any reason to change it? You think the configuration files exist only in RAM so when you reboot they're lost? This isn't 1990 anymore, where DOS required constant configuration changes depending on what program you were running to make memory available in the right places, that practice has gone the way of the dinosaur. -- Andrew Halliwell BSc(hons) "ARSE!
