I wasn't as clear as I could have been - sorry. What I was trying to say is that, generally speaking, the longer you spend in here answering the (more or less) same, (more or less) stupid questions from people who really should have tried either google or logical thought first, the more frustrated and irritated you get. By and large, the more knowledgable people in here are tired to rest of the idiots (there are exceptions, obviously, but not all that many).

I'll pull an example out of the air - many people complain about Peter Breuer's (IIRC that's the spelling) atbreastude. BUT he's been the ONLY person in here who could answer a few of my more obscure questions, and I didn't have any trouble with his atbreastude or understanding his answer... because I A)provided all the necessary information about my problem, and B)because I was willing to THINK about the problem and the solution.

On the other hand, you'll notice that many (not all, but many) of the people who complain about him have several characteristics in common, generally a failure to do do either A or B (see above).

I've only been reading this newsgroup and using linux for a few years (I'm nowhere near the expert that some of the people in here are but I'm no longer a newbie either), but I'm already tired of the idiots who can't be bothered to google for some of the questions that have been answered daily for the last three months, or to bang two brain cells together for ten minutes.

In another thread you claim all these tales of woe with Windows that require editing the registry, re...

The unavoidable corollary is that a large percentage of the intelligent people in here learn, spend some time answering questions, and then get fed up and go elsewhere, while the people who don't know and don't want to think talk to each other.

I don't recall who it was who told some gomer who was complaining that linux wasn't acting like windows to go back to using windows - and the gomer got very offended and demanded to know why linux wasn't windows and why should he have to go back to windows just because that's what he wanted.. and demanding that everyone working on linux make it work like windows - now! Clearly and obviously a complete idiot, yes? Not the first or the worst... It gets old quick.
