Linux 'loses' 1st job to print server
Hi, Running Red Hat ES v3.0 and have set up several print queues using CUPS to both local and remote sites. All printers are attached to print servers (a variety of D-Links and...

Hi group,

I'm using two DELL machines with OS SuSE 9.0 Professional installed. Each machine owns an Apache2-instance (apache2-2.0.54-1) delivering HTTP content. The Apache2-configuration itsself is located on a NFS-mount where both machines link to:

When rotating the apache2-logfiles using "logrotate-3.6.6-95" (only executed machine-specific) for each virtual host configuration, the apache2 process is not properly reloaded on both machines. But this only occurs, when the apache2-configuration itsself is stored on a NFS-mount. Otherwise the logrotation using one of the following logrotate scripts does not fail:

extern-home-dimex-www.dimex.de-logs-access.logextern-home-dimex-www.dimex.de-logs-error.log { prerotate su -m -c "-usr-bin-webalizer -cextern-home-dimex-www.dimex.de-webalizer-webalizer.conf -N 0" dimex endscript daily compress dateext maxage 364 rotate 90 notifempty missingok sharedscripts create 644 dimex kunden postrotate etc-init.d-apache2 reload chown dimex.kundenextern-home-dimex-www.dimex.de-logs-* endscript }

The following error messages are part of an e-mail generated after the logrotation has finished.

Logrotation for the first example virtual host configuration: =============================================================

Logrotation for the second example virtual host configuration: ==============================================================

As already mentioned: the messages do not occur, when the Apache2-configuration is stored locally. I wonder, why these message occur when rotating the logfiles. Both machines do not write to the same file-system-location at the same time on the NFS mount, they only read the central stored Apache2 configuration via NFS.

Any hints?
